A woman who was shot along with two other women outside a Long Beach liquor store earlier this month died at a hospital last week, Long Beach police said on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Claudine Williams, 56, of Long Beach was taken to a hospital in critical condition following the Aug. 9 shooting outside Mike’s Liquor in the 100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway.

She died on Friday, Aug. 14, police said in announcing that detectives were now investigating the case as a murder.

“Detectives believe the incident is not a random act of violence,” police said.

The two other women were hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds to their lower bodies, police said.

The suspect or suspects fled before officers arrived. Gang detectives were called out to investigate.

Details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting were unclear. The motive was under investigation, police said.
