BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A GoFundMe was created for a mother and two daughters who were killed in a wrong-way fiery crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield early Sunday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at around 12:44 a.m., officers responded to a three-vehicle wrong-way crash on southbound Highway 99, north of 7th Standard Road.
CHP said the crash involved a 2022 Honda Accord driven by an unidentified female, a white 2019 BMW 530i driven by a 44-year-old man, and a white 2022 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by a 41-year-old woman.

CHP said investigators are currently looking into which vehicle was driving the wrong way.

As a result of the crash, the Honda immediately became engulfed in flames, and all three people inside died, according to CHP.

According to the GoFundMe, the three people killed were identified as a mother, Vanessa, and her daughters, Kloie and Kylie, who were going home from Fresno after a concert.

The GoFundMe said, “What should have been a weekend filled with memories and a celebration of Kloie turning 17 has instead left a family trying to comprehend the loss of a mother and her two daughters all at once.”

The driver and solo occupant of the BMW sustained severe injuries, and the two people in the Chevrolet sustained minor injuries from the crash.
CHP said it is unknown if the use of alcohol and or drugs were a factor in this crash.
