A brush fire sparked in the rural community of Dehesa in east San Diego County on Wednesday afternoon, threatening structures, prompting evacuations and closing roads.
The Dehesa 7 Fire had been burning at a dangerous rate of spread uphill toward Alpine Heights, a residential community, and was immediately threatening structures in the area, according to Watch Duty.
The fire was burning at Dehesa Road and Red Gum Road near Sycuan Casino Resort on the Sycuan Reservation. Firefighting crews had stopped forward progress at about 5 p.m. after the fire scorched 94 acres, Cal Fire said.
Road Closures
Dehesa Road was closed from Willson Road to Harbison Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Evacuations

A temporary evacuation point has been set up at the East Side Lot of Viejas Casino, 5000 Willows Road, Alpine, CA 91901.
Smoke Advisory
Smoke from the fire caused the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District to issue an active smoke advisory for the communities of Alpine, Harbison Canyon, Lakeside, Santee and El Cajon. For more information on that, click here.
