PENN VALLEY, CA — Rockin’ the Gateway continues its 2026 season on August 29 as Hipper Than Hip returns to Western Gateway Park with its funky, soulful sound and the hottest horn line this side of Oakland. Formed in 2015, the band was built on a mission to bring back the classic sound of the great horn-line acts, and they deliver it with energy to spare.
Featuring the music of Tower of Power, Chicago, Earth, Wind & Fire, Aretha, Tina, Stevie, Bruno, and more, Hipper Than Hip keeps the crowd on its feet all night long. It’s a set list built for dancing, and the band brings the groove to match.
As with every Rockin’ the Gateway concert, children under 18 are free and leashed dogs are welcome. Guests may BYOB — spirits included — and bring a picnic or enjoy offerings from on-site food vendors. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., after the sun dips below the horizon, so all seating is in the shade. Bring a blanket or chair, and get ready to move with the groove.
Tickets are $25 at RockinTheGateway.com or $30 (cash only) at the door.
