BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — At least one person has died after a crash on westbound Highway 58 Thursday morning.

The CHP’s website said on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at around 11:33 a.m., there was a report of a two-vehicle crash on westbound Highway 58, near Fairfax Road.

The website said there was a black trash can that caused the crash.

According to the website, a pickup truck for the lost item arrived at the scene.

The CHP’s website said there was debris blocking the number one and two lanes.

As of 12 p.m., it was requested that the number one westbound lane be closed.

The crash was listed as a fatality.

It is unknown who died or if anyone else was hurt.
