Father arrested in connection with death of his 11-month-old child, Sacramento police say
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
A father is in custody in connection with the death of his 11-month-old child, the Sacramento Police Department said Thursday.
Emari Thompson, 27, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on a murder charge, police said.
Officers went to an apartment on Rivergate Way at Gloria Drive just after 6 a.m. Saturday for reports of an unresponsive child, police said. After arriving, the infant was taken to a hospital, where the baby later died.
Police said that homicide detectives and crime scene investigators took over, processed the scene, collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. After reviewing the case and consulting with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, officers arrested Thompson.
The child has not yet been identified.
