(KRON) — A band faced a major setback ahead of its tour stop in the Bay Area. Elizabeth and the Catapult had its car broken into in Oakland on Sunday night, the artist’s Instagram page announced.
The New York-based band said it lost nearly everything they brought with them on tour.
“Well, this is not the tour update I was hoping to share. Someone broke into our car in Oakland last night and stole pretty much everything we brought with us on tour. (And most importantly instruments/amps/computers and hard drives!),” the band wrote Monday on social media. “We’re safe, which is obviously the most important thing.”
Elizabeth was slated to play at The Back Room in Berkeley on Tuesday, accompained by Jon Titterington on piano and guitar. The Instagram message delivering the news was signed by Elizabeth and Jon.
The band received help from the community, as many sent money to Elizabeth to help her buy luggage, clothes, shoes and other necessities. They said Monday the band can now continue on with the tour, including the Berkeley show the following night.

“Thank you all so much for the incredible outpouring of love and support here,” the band wrote on a social media post Monday. “Our immediate needs have already been met… because of you, we can continue on the tour.”
Elizabeth Ziman, who performs as Elizabeth and the Catapult, is a musician from Brooklyn, New York. The singer-songwriter has toured with Amy Helm, Sara Bareilles and Kishi Bashi, according to the band’s website. The tour is scheduled for a show in Portland, Oregon on Friday and in Seattle on Sunday.
Elizabeth and the Catapult aren’t the only band to be a victim of crime in Oakland. In April, Moonchild had its truck stolen in Oakland on the morning of its concert at The UC Theatre in Berkeley.
