The San Diego Seals are moving north.
The National Lacrosse League team will announce Friday that it will play its home games at Oceanside’s Frontwave Arena, ending an eight-year run at Pechanga Arena.
The move to the 7,500-seat Frontwave follows a trend. The Indoor Football League’s San Diego Strike Force did the same more than a year ago.
“Frontwave is a first-class, intimate venue that brings fans closer to the action than ever before,” Seals CEO Paul Speaker said. “Every seat feels like you are right on top of the floor, creating the kind of electric, high-energy environment that makes Seals games so special. We cannot wait to welcome our loyal fans, introduce new families and lacrosse supporters to the Seals, and build an incredible home-field advantage together at Frontwave Arena.”
The Seals will play nine regular-season home games during the 2026-27 season, with the schedule released next month. The team will announce ticket and parking prices then.
Opened in 2024, Frontwave is now home to five professional sports franchises: The G League’s San Diego Clippers; the Major Arena Soccer League’s San Diego Sockers; the Seals and Strike Force; and the expansion Oceanside Shock of the Federal Prospects Hockey League. The San Diego Gulls remain the primary tenant at Pechanga.
The Seals averaged more than 6,600 fans per game at Pechanga a year ago, according to the league. That figure is more than enough to give the club an intimidating home-field advantage at the smaller arena.
“The start of the season can’t get here soon enough,” said Patrick Merrill, the Seals’ coach and general manager. “It’s a coach’s dream to have his team play in a new and modern arena like Frontwave.”
