Bowling Green Women’s soccer (2-0-0) continued its season on the road against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (1-2-0) on Thursday, Aug. 20. The team was propelled by a goal from senior team captain Taylor Green, which proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 victory.

Around the 30-minute mark, Green, the team captain, scored an unassisted goal to give the Falcons the lead. This is her second goal in the last 2 games and only the third in her career.

Payton O’Malley picked up her first start of the year Thursday for the Falcons, notching one save on 2 shots through 90 minutes and earning a clean sheet. O’Malley started every game last season and only missed 11 minutes but was on the bench for the team’s home opener against Robert Morris.

Four other Falcons played all 90 minutes in the team’s win: Green, midfielder Emme Butera, and defenders Gabby Lamparty and Jayna Searles

The Falcons controlled the pace of play in the game, attempting 15 shots to Oakland’s 2 and holding a 5-0 advantage in corners.

Next, the Falcons continue their road trip and travel to Cincinnati to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23 at Gettler Stadium.
