BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — UPDATE (11:55 A.M.): According to the Caltrans camera, all northbound lanes has reopened.

Traffic continues to snarl on northbound Interstate 5 near Grapevine Road after a semi-truck caught on fire at around 1 a.m. Friday morning.

According to the CHP’s website, on Friday, August 21, 2026, at around 12:52 a.m., there was a report of a semi-truck on fire on northbound Interstate 5, south of the Grapevine.

The website said all lanes were stopped at 1 a.m.

The number one lane was then reopened.

As of 9 a.m., two of the three lanes remain closed.

Traffic can be seen going as far back as Frazier Mountain Road.

CHP Fort Tejon said no one was hurt.

Expect delays if planning to travel in the area.
