Rafael Devers returns to Fenway Park with San Francisco Giants
BOSTON —
Rafael Devers, who spent nine productive seasons with the Boston Red Sox, returned to Fenway Park tonight as a member of the San Francisco Giants.
Devers reflected on his time in Boston, sharing that he holds no hard feelings about how things ended. “Very happy to be back. I know the fans were good to me, so I’m happy to be back,” Devers said.
He also expressed uncertainty about how fans would react to his return. “I don’t know what to expect. This is my first experience, if they’re going to cheer or if they’re going to boo, so I don’t really have an answer for that,” he said.
Devers is set to be the designated hitter Friday, batting second in the order.
