BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Southwest Market canceled their scheduled event for Saturday at Independence High School.

It comes as a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed at Independence High School during the football game. It was the first game for high schools in the Kern County area.
Police said there is limited to no information on a suspect.
According to the post, it said, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, students, staff, friends, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.”
They said they would like to support the families affected during this time. “If there is a way to donate, contribute, or help the family directly, please reach out to us,” said in the post.
