Multiple agencies are investigating the scene, including the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Multiple agencies are investigating after a possible pipe bomb was found at a home in Oakland, Tennessee. 

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Oakland Police Department responded to a home on Chestnut Ridge near Highway 194 at around 7 a.m. Saturday, August 22. 

A woman had reportedly called after finding her son dead in the home. According to the sheriff’s office, when officers arrived on the scene, they found what appears to be a pipe bomb in his room.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was called to the scene to assist. The Oakland Police Department is urging people to stay away from the area as the investigation continues.
