BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The theme with the week that was featured a rise in temperatures, with daily readings coming in a bit higher than the computer models had previously suggested earlier on.
The hottest day of the week for some areas saw numbers well into the triple digits from the South Valley, to the Kern River Valley and obviously the deserts too.
As the upper-level high moved into the 4 Corners Region the atmospheric flow turned southeasterly, which brought a monsoonal push back into parts of southeastern California as well.
This weekend that heat-high looks to be centered over the Southwest US, but our atmospheric flow may turn more south-southwesterly, shifting the monsoonal moisture north and east of our area. Afternoon rumblers might pop-off either over the High Sierra, or even further east of those slopes. Otherwise the heat will continue.
