FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Two people were arrested for animal abuse after tests on three dogs found multiple drugs in the dogs’ systems.
Fresno Police officers were on patrol in the area of Olive and Maroa Avenue a bit before 9 a.m. on August 5th.
They contacted a woman inside a car who appeared to be disoriented.
The woman was identified as Lindsay Herbert.
During contact, officers found drug paraphernalia along with two small dogs.
One dog was a Chihuahua mix named Brownie who was extremely lethargic, limp, and lying next to fresh poop.
Herbert was taken into custody for trespassing and drug charges.
Officers were informed by an acquaintance of Herbert that the dog may be suffering from a drug overdose.
Brownie was given aid and transported to a nearby vet, where it was discovered that Brownie had drugs in her system.
The drugs included amphetamine, methamphetamine, OxyContin, and buprenorphine.
However, on August 19th, Herbert was found again blocking a sidewalk and had another Chihuahua named Baby Girl.
The dog also showed signs of drug overdose.
Baby Girl was taken to a nearby vet, where it was discovered that methamphetamine, amphetamines, and benzodiazepine were in her system.
She was arrested again on drug and animal abuse charges.
Officers also contacted another person in the area of Fern and Maroa Avenue for trespassing after reports of several people trespassing.
An officer noticed a man identified as Noah Garcia providing aid to a Chihuahua named Vada.
Vada was taken to a nearby vet, where tests showed she had methamphetamine, amphetamines, and oxycontin in her system.
Garcia was also arrested and booked for trespassing and animal abuse charges.

Brownie, Baby Girl, and Vada were rescued and transported to the Fresno Animal Center, where they are healthy and being cared for.
