A California Highway Patrol K9 helped officers find 45 pounds of methamphetamine and 5 pounds of fentanyl during a traffic stop in Northern California on Aug. 20, authorities said.
“Upon contacting the driver, the Officer observed several indicators of criminal activity,” CHP said.

Officers walked K9 “Apis” around the outside of the suspect’s car and the dog detected the smell of illegal narcotics. Officers searched the car and allegedly found dozens of bags of illegal drugs. Officers seized the drugs as evidence.
CHP did not provide any suspect information and did not say if the driver was arrested during the stop.
“Thank you to our K9 officers for removing these dangerous drugs from the highways and keeping our communities safe,” CHP said. “Great job K9 Apis and our officer!”
