At 14th, Carlsson’s ranking sandwiches him between Nico Hischier of the New Jersey Devils at 15th and Tim Stutzle of the Ottawa Senators at 13th. Atop the list sat Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Macklin Celebrini, Leon Draisaitl, and Aleksander Barkov at 1-5, respectively. Interestingly, Connor Bedard (1st overall in 2023), who was selected one spot ahead of Carlsson (2nd in ’23) in the same draft class and was seen as a borderline “generational talent” at the time, came in behind Carlsson, at 16th.
