On Aug. 24, the Long Beach Police Department announced the seizure of a “significant amount” of illegal guns and drugs following a raid in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and District Attorney Anne Donnelly.
Charles Burns was arrested at his home on Reverend JJ Evans Boulevard on Aug. 21. Authorities recovered more than 20 guns and a “large amount” of cocaine, fentanyl, ecstasy, heroin and more than $100,000 in cash.
Burns is charged with 59 gun and drug-related charges including first, second and third degree criminal possession of a firearm.
“It was indicated to us that this person was dealing drugs in our community and that’s what was brought to our attention,” Police Commissioner Richard DePalma said.
“With school starting in just a couple days, this is a significant investigation. This collaboration between Long Beach Department, Nassau County Police Department, the district attorney’s office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation […] is going to make Long Beach much safer.”
