A drone’s-eye view reveals the unusual scale of the Sacramento-area estate Gov. Gavin Newsom put on the market Monday: 8.2 private acres running along bluffs near the American River, with landscaped grounds and sweeping views beyond its gates.
At the center of the property in the Sacramento suburb of Fair Oaks is a roughly 12,663-square-foot, Mediterranean-style residence. From above, the estate’s amenities come into focus, including a resort-style pool, full-size tennis court, private casita, four-car garage and outdoor wellness area with a hot tub and cold plunge. Inside, a wine cellar holds about 5,000 bottles.
When it comes to purchasing homes, the governor seems to prefer shopping at some of the highest price points in a real estate market.

Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom bought the seven-bedroom home for $3.7 million in 2018, a Fair Oaks record at the time. The couple’s purchase was the highest recorded home sale in Fair Oaks, The Bee previously reported.
Newsom’s Fair Oaks home through the years has drawn protesters from across the political spectrum.
Sacramento appraiser and housing analyst Ryan Lundquist described the property as an “outlier” because of its privacy, gated setting and nearly eight acres.
The family moved to Marin County after purchasing a $9.1 million estate in Kentfield in 2024, but held onto the Fair Oaks property. The Kentfield residence, formerly owned by billionaire Daniel Pritzker, is a roughly 5,600-square-foot, six-bedroom home on 0.89 acres, with a guesthouse, pool, spa, outdoor sculptures and views of Mount Tamalpais.
Lundquist told The Bee that the Kentfield purchase ranked among the town’s highest residential sales since 1999.
