Lodi police officers fatally shot a suspect inside a McDonald’s on Monday morning after officers responded to a report of an armed suspect inside the restaurant, officials said.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. at the McDonald’s on West Lodi Avenue. Lodi police said that upon arrival, officers heard gunfire coming from inside the restaurant and learned that an employee had been shot.
Officers then encountered the armed suspect and shot him, the department said. The suspect, who has since been identified as 29-year-old Jonhatan Anguiano, was declared dead at the scene.

The employee who was shot was stable in the hospital at last check, police said.
Cheryl Steneck was in the drive-through picking up a drink when she said she suddenly saw police surrounding the restaurant.
“I seen the first officer get out of his vehicle and draw his gun behind his car door,” Steneck said.
Steneck said an employee told her someone inside had a gun.
“She said, ‘Yes, we have somebody with a gun inside,’ ” Steneck recalled. “And she and I said, ‘Oh my God, I can’t get out.'”
Steneck said she was trapped in the drive-through, with a vehicle in front of her and police vehicles behind and around her.
She and the employee were talking through the drive-through window when they heard several gunshots.
“I didn’t know who was getting shot and I was really, really scared for the girl that I was talking with in the drive-through because she’s in the back, she’s stuck,” she said.
Steneck said she remained in her vehicle until police directed vehicles out one at a time.
Police said there is no outstanding threat to the public.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
