Police officer hospitalized after being shot near downtown San Jose
SAN JOSE, Calif. —
A San Jose police officer is in the hospital after being shot south of the city’s downtown area, the police department said
The shooting was in the area of Lick Avenue and Goodyear Street. The injured officer was taken to a San Jose-area hospital, but their condition is unknown.
NBC Bay Area reported that San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan was on his way to the hospital.
Police have not said what led up to the shooting or whether they are searching for a suspect.
