Sac State move-in day includes opening of Mt. Whitney residence hall
It’s a big day on the campus of Sacramento State. This is the traditional move-in day for incoming students.
This year is even bigger for those getting to move into the brand new Mt. Whitney residence hall.
Aislinn Ingles, who got help from her Modesto-area parents, was among the first to move-in and check out the new home for more than 350 new students.
“I love it. I can’t wait. It’s a little small, but yeah I’m so excited,” said Ingles.
Ingles was among the 2,300 students and families who were greeted by the Sac State band and cheerleaders once check-in began shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday.
The $69 million, five-story, 97,100-square-foot Mt. Whitney Hall stands as the newest addition to on-campus housing.
It also comes as the university begins a new requirement for students to live in on-campus housing for the first two academic years.
The co-ed building features recreation rooms, technology rich study lounges, tele-health rooms, computer lab, laundry room, movie room, classroom, large conference room and outdoor social spaces, according to Sac State’s website.
