The death of Dolly Parton at age 80 leaves a legacy of kindness, philanthropy, films — and an enormous catalog of songs, including countless hits over the decades.
She included some of those hits into her appearances in Northern California over the years at Arco Arena.
Parton died Tuesday, Aug. 25, at a Nashville hospital following a brief battle with cancer, her family said.
While she also gained fame for her Dollywood theme park and films such as “9 to 5” and “Steel Magnolias,” Parton was best known for her long country music career.
Her notable No. 1 hits include “I Will Always Love You,” “Here You Come Again, “9 to 5,” “Real Love,” “Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ LIke That” and “When I Get Where I’m Going.”
But her catalog also includes such standouts as “Jolene,” “Islands in the Stream” and “Coat of Many Colors.”
