A driver was taken into custody late Wednesday night after leading police on a two-hour pursuit through Los Angeles County.
The driver was wanted for allegedly assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon a few days ago in North Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. More details about the incident, including what type of weapon was used, were unknown.
Wednesday’s chase started around 9 p.m. near Studio City and went through various neighborhoods in the city of LA and the county, including Boyle Heights, Alhambra and Pasadena.
Early on in the pursuit, aerial footage from NewsChopper4 showed the white Lexus sedan traveling slowly with what appeared to be a damaged front-right tire on the southbound 5 Freeway. At least nine LAPD units were following behind, and two LAPD airships were also overhead.
By 9:30 p.m., the slow-speed chase continued off the freeway and onto surface streets.
Just before 11 p.m., video showed the driver running from the car and into a neighborhood, where officers arrested the suspect close to an apartment complex near Oxnard Street and Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood.
