Surging Diamondbacks aim to bolster their playoff resume as weekend road trip opens against the Giants
Winners of five of their last seven games, the Arizona Diamondbacks continue their playoff push on Thursday night as they begin a four-game weekend set against the San Francisco Giants in a matchup of National League West Division foes. The Giants took two of three games from the Reds earlier in the week, their first series win since beating the Brewers at the tail end of July, and now aim to play spoiler to Arizona’s playoff chances despite losing eight of nine against the Diamondbacks this season. Arizona will send rookie right-hander Jose Cabrera (0-2, 5.60 ERA) to the mound for his fifth career start in search of his first Major League win, while San Francisco will counter with Landen Roupp (7-13, 4.34 ERA), who was slated to start yesterday but was given an extra day of rest as he looks to rebound from his current five-start losing skid.

Giants first baseman Rafael Devers leads the team in home runs and RBIs after homering in three consecutive games. Acquired by San Francisco midway through the 2025 season, Devers continues to deliver offensive production as he comes into Wednesday one homer away from posting his fifth 30-homer campaign.
