BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was arrested in Los Angeles County for allegedly assaulting and killing his elderly father in south Bakersfield Monday evening. Police said his father was found dead on the ground outside a home.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Monday, October 13th, 2025, at around 6:27 p.m., officers were called to the 6100 block of Chandler Way regarding an unresponsive man found on the ground outside of a home.

Police said the elderly man was declared dead by responding medical aid.

According to police, based upon the facts and circumstances, it was discovered that the victim had been physically assaulted.

Bakersfield Police Department homicide investigators responded and assumed the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, the victim’s son, 49-year-old Alfred Juarez of Bakersfield, was found and arrested with no incident in Los Angeles County with the help of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Juarez was transported and booked into the Kern County Jail for murder, elder abuse, robbery and other associated charges.

Police said there are no outstanding suspects.
