City Year said research has found that students who spend more time with a student success coach have better academic, interpersonal and attendance outcomes.
AmeriCorps members who complete 1,700 hours of service are eligible for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, currently valued at $7,395. The award can be used to pay for college or vocational training or repay student loans.
City Year partners with schools in 29 U.S. communities, with AmeriCorps members providing school-based academic and mentoring support intended to help students remain on track for high school graduation and prepare for college and careers.
