OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – One of the three suspects charged in connection with a gang-related shooting at an Oakland County gas station last October has learned his sentence.
Amaju Dozier, 23, of Auburn Hills, was sentenced this month to serve 28 months to 10 years in prison for felony firearm possession, and two years for a felony firearm charge, to be served consecutively. Dozier pleaded guilty to those charges on Aug. 13, as well as to one count for carrying a concealed weapon, as part of a plea agreement which dismissed an assault with intent to murder charge and additional felony firearm charge in the case.
The two other suspects facing charges — Romello Johnson, 23, of Harper Woods, and DeAngelo Brown, 22, of Sterling Heights, still face multiple charges related to the Oct. 28 incident, including assault with intent to murder.
The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office says Brown and Dozier engaged in a gunfight with Johnson — an alleged rival gang member —at a BP gas station in Southfield. Two innocent bystanders were struck by gunfire and injured in the shooting.
Brown and Johnson are scheduled for pre-trial hearings on Sept. 2 and Sept. 28, respectively. Assault with intent to murder carries a punishment of any term of years in prison, up to life.
