The California Department of Motor Vehicles says it experienced a brief network outage Friday afternoon that was limited to the Sacramento area.
The issue was first noticed by The Sacramento Bee at around 2:30 p.m. and was resolved approximately an hour later.
“There is a limited outage that we’re working with our connectivity provider to resolve,” said Information Officer Jonathan Groveman with the California DMV’s Office of Public Affairs, in an email. “Occasionally a local office or local group of offices have temporary connectivity issues due to local connectivity providers.”
Groveman did not immediately say which locations were affected by the outage or have information on when it started. He said that outages like the one experienced Friday are typically resolved within 60 minutes.
As of time of publication, ticketing systems at the Sacramento DMV office were operational.
