One pedestrian died and another was hospitalized Friday evening after they were struck by a freight train in an industrial area of Sacramento.
About 5:45 p.m. Friday, officers responded to reports of a Union Pacific Railroad freight train that struck two pedestrians in the 2500 block of Grand Avenue, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
This industrial area of Sacramento is just south of Interstate 80 along the railroad tracks in the East Del Paso Heights neighborhood.
Police said one pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a hospital and listed in stable condition. Medics pronounced the other pedestrian dead at the scene.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release their name and age after their family has been notified.
