FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A driver was killed after crashing into a power pole on Friday.
Emergency personnel responded to a car accident in the area of Willow Avenue and Iowa a bit before 4:30 p.m.
A vehicle struck a power pole, which sheared off from its base, and energized power lines fell on the vehicle.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported the vehicle was fully involved with the power lines arcing on top of the car.
The driver was reported dead at the scene.
Tulare Avenue and Willow Avenue are closed in both directions.
According to PG& E, about 2,296 customers are without power.
Estimated restoration time is 11:30 p.m.
