(KRON) — A 42-year-old man has been charged in an Oakland murder case involving a victim whose remains were found buried earlier this year, Alameda County District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announced Friday.
Sergio Omar Flores was taken into custody on Wednesday morning. He is accused of murdering a man whose body was discovered buried on June 9 in the 500 block of 34th Street. According to prosecutors, the victim was bound with duct tape covering his face.

“I commend the Oakland Police Department’s homicide investigators for their diligent work in identifying and apprehending the defendant in this horrific crime,” said Jones Dickson.
Flores made his first appearance in court Friday. His arraignment was continued to Monday, Aug. 31, at 9 a.m., jail records show. He remains behind bars in Santa Rita Jail with no bail.
