SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The heat will be sticking around San Diego County for a little bit longer before a slight cooldown at the end of the weekend.
Both the heat advisory for coastal areas and the extreme heat warning for county valley’s, mountains and deserts were extended through 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Coastal cities including Chula Vista, Encinitas, National City, San Diego, Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista can expect high temperatures of 85 to 93 Friday, and temperatures up to 91 on Saturday.
At the same time, the cities of Escondido, Santee, La Mesa, San Marcos, Poway and El Cajon can expect dangerously hot conditions Friday of 95 to 104 degrees. The hot weather will continue Saturday with high temperatures around 98 degrees.
Mountain towns, including Julian and Pine Valley, can expect temperatures of 90 to 100 degrees, up to 97 on Saturday.
San Diego deserts, including Borrego Springs, will see temperatures up to 115 degrees.

Thankfully, there is some relief in sight.
While the heat will stick around through Saturday night, temperatures will start to fall below normal by Sunday.

Brought on by El Niño conditions, Southern California recorded the highest humidity in the U.S. this past week.
While the hot temperatures are uncomfortable and the high humidity is comparable to Florida right now, the county is warning residents that the high heat is also causing an increase in hydrogen sulfide emissions in the Tijuana River Valley in southern San Diego County.
