SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office recruits honored fallen deputies at the Star 6 Memorial as part of their final academy challenge.
Class 26-SBRA-1 ran to the crash site before completing a grueling workout. The tradition pays tribute to the deputies lost in the Star 6 crash and all law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.
During the physical challenge, recruits reflected on the courage and sacrifice of those who came before them. They gained a deeper understanding of the weight carried by the deputies who responded to the Star 6 crash.
The memorial workout marked one of the final challenges for the recruits. After completing the training, tests and tasks throughout their academy journey, they earned their place at the finish line.
The recruits are set to graduate on Monday. The tradition concludes every academy class at the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
