Los Angeles Metro will kick off Rail Safety Month with interactive pop-up events at Union Station on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and the premiere of a new animated safety video.
The events will run from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the West Portal entrance to the B and D Lines and from 3 to 5 p.m. at the East Portal. Metro is partnering with Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services and Metrolink.
Attendees can visit educational booths, pick up giveaways, learn about safe behavior around trains and tracks, and sign up for discounted fare programs, including Metro’s LIFE program.
Metro will also debut a new video in its Safetyville series titled “Never Train Surf. Safety Begins with You.” The animation highlights the dangers of train surfing and other risky behaviors near the rail system.
