Thales Nguyen, Lakewood Football
Lakewood secured their first win of the season with a 12-7 victory over Paramount. Thales Nguyen scored the game-winning touchdown after a late 55-yard connection between Jayden Moore and Aidan Kautsky set the senior up for a 4-yard run and the score.
Edward Rivera, Compton Football
Compton improved to 2-0 after picking up a road win against Orange Vista. Edward Rivera scored four touchdowns in the 28-21 victory.
Aleeya Salima, Long Beach Poly Girls’ Volleyball
The Jackrabbits are off to a 3-0 start, most recently sweeping St. Joseph last Thursday. Senior Aleeya Salima was the top performer with a team-high 12 kills, hitting .476 overall.

Cherrie Cox, LBSU Soccer
Senior forward Cherrie Cox earned her second consecutive Athlete of the Week honor for her two-goal performance in a 3-0 win against Weber State. Long Beach State remained unbeaten with a 4-0-1 overall record thanks to this victory.
