The suspect was wanted after his former wife escaped a three-day ordeal in which she said he beat, strangled and pistol-whipped her, ultimately pretending to be dead to get away.
Deputies tracked the suspect using a Flock license plate reader and opened fire after they said he pointed a handgun at them during the standoff.
