Kurzawa Named #HLMSOC Offensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League has announced its #HLMSOC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, naming Oakland’s Cal Kurzawa as this week’s Offensive Player of the Week.

Kurzawa earns his first Player of the Week nod, and the first for any Golden Grizzly this season, after a blazing performance against UIC. The redshirt freshman scored two goals, including the game-winner, while also tallying an assist in Oakland’s 3-2 win over the Flames on Aug. 27.

With three goals on the season, Kurzawa holds the top scoring mark in the conference. He also ranks first in shots on goal (six) and points (seven), making an immediate impact in his inaugural season with Oakland.

Kurzawa joins teammate Christopher Jean-Leger, who earned an Offensive Player of the Week nod in 2025, as the only freshmen to win the weekly award for Oakland since 2018.

The Golden Grizzlies and Kurzawa look to stack wins this week as they travel to Arizona to take on Grand Canyon University on Thursday, Sep. 3.
