LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) — Police in Long Beach are still searching for a suspect following a fatal hit-and-run on Sunday morning.
At around 5:50 a.m., first responders were called to 1st Street west of Cleveland Avenue after 36-year-old Jimmy Alexander Mero, who was hit by a vehicle, was found lying in the roadway by a resident.
Mero was taken by ambulance to Gulfport Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Based on surveillance video, the suspect vehicle is believed to be a truck or SUV. Police are asking residents in the area for any footage or information that could help identify the person behind the wheel.
