Lionel Richie is in an intensive care in a St. Louis hospital, according to reports from TMZ and other news outlets.

“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Lionel checked himself into a local hospital after his Saturday night (Aug. 29) performance at The Muny in Forest Park (area of St. Louis) to have some tests run,” TMZ reports. “Witnesses at the concert tell us Lionel appeared to be struggling a bit toward the end of the show, asking his team to bring him a chair while performing his final song, ‘All Night Long,’ so he could sit down.”

There is no word on what might be ailing Richie or his current medical condition.

Richie, a longtime road warrior, has a few weeks off before his next scheduled gig — which falls on Sept. 26 at Chase Center in San Francisco.

That gig at the home of the Golden State Warriors is itself a make-up/reschedule date from early August, when the gig was called off — just minutes before showtime — due to a member of tour co-headliner Earth, Wind & Fire’s band needing medical treatment.
