Maureen Gallagher

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Maureen “Mo” Burke Gallagher passed away peacefully in Anaheim, Calif. on June 17, 2026 at the age of 60.

Born in Portland, Maine, Maureen graduated from the University of Maine-Orono before embarking on a career in Special Education, working as a teacher in southern Maine. In 2003, she and her family moved to Anaheim, Calif. where she worked for The Hope School for over 20 years.

Maureen was a beloved and unique person, known for her individuality, her feistiness and her independent spirit. Her sense of humor defined her and delighted everyone around her.

Maureen was especially devoted to her two sons, Shane and Ryan, whom she loved deeply. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking bus rides to Seal Beach with Ryan, camping, hiking and traveling.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Donald Gallagher and Patricia Gallagher Carlista.

Mo is survived by her son, Shane Embleton and his wife, Melissa, as well as grandchildren Harrison and Mason. She is also survived by her son, Ryan Gwartney. Mo leaves her siblings, Anne Gallagher Dixon (Mark), Theresa Gallagher Boucher (Danny), Stephen Gallagher (Susanne) and Susan Gallagher; as well as nieces and nephews Drew Dixon, Leah Dixon, Matthew Gallagher and Michelle Gregory.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sept. 26, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bruno’s Restaurant, in Portland.
