Eastbound I-580 in Alameda County shut down due to crash and vehicle fire – NBC Bay Area

A portion of Interstate 580 in Alameda County was shut down Monday afternoon due to a crash and vehicle fire, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident was reported on eastbound I-580 at the I-205 split. Caltrans advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes

Aerial coverage from NBC Bay Area’s SkyRanger at around 2 p.m. showed heavy traffic in the area and lanes on the freeway appeared to have been reopened.

No other information was immediately available.
