Man struck and killed by train in Sacramento County, officials say

A man was killed after he was struck by a train in Sacramento County on Monday evening, according to officials.

Sacramento Metro Fire said crews responded arrived at the railroad crossing on Calvine Road near Ardith Drive around 8:42 p.m. for reports of a train hitting a pedestrian.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Metro Fire said the train involved was from Union Pacific. The train crew were not hurt and are being offered support after witnessing the incident.

The crash is under investigation.
