(FOX40.COM) — A train fatally hit a man Monday night in south Sacramento County, officials said
At approximately 8:42 p.m., the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was dispatched to the railroad crossing on Calvine Road near Illa Collin Park close to the border of the Florin and Vineyard areas.
A southbound train operated by the Union Pacific Railroad struck a man, who fire personnel pronounced at the scene, Sac Metro Fire said.
The California Highway Patrol and Elk Grove Police Department are both investigating the crash, as the site straddles the border of Sacramento County and Elk Grove. The man’s identity has not yet been confirmed, Sac Metro Fire said.
This is the second deadly crash involving a train in the last week. On Aug. 28, a train hit two pedestrians in north Sacramento, killing one and injuring the other.
