PITTSBURGH — Jackson Flora, the fourth overall pick in the 2026 MLB draft, will join Single-A San Jose and make his professional debut in Fresno Grizzlies on Friday, a source told this news organization.
Flora, 21, pitched this past Saturday in the “Bridge League,” which “bridges” the gap between the end of the Arizona Complex League and the beginning of instructional camps.
The Giants will likely limit Flora to only an inning or two after the right-hander threw a career-high 102 innings in his final season at the University of Santa Barbara. He joins a talented San Jose team that currently features Josuar Gonzalez, Luis Hernandez and Peyton Bonds.
San Jose’s regular season concludes on Sunday, Sept. 6, and it will play its first game of the postseason on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Flora could potentially make an appearance for San Jose in the playoffs, depending on how he comes out of his first pro appearance.
Flora, who attended Foothill High School in Pleasanton and grew up a Giants fan, headlines the wave of pitching talent that joined the organization in July through the draft and trades, a list that includes Carson Bolemon (29th overall pick), Kaden Waechter (55th), Ramon Marquez (Luis Arraez trade), Miguel Mendez (Robbie Ray trade) and Henry Lalane (Heliot Ramos trade).
“The Giants have always been the team that I wanted to play for, and I’m really excited that worked out,” Flora said in July. “This is where I want to be, and this is the city I want to play in.”
