Central Michigan hosts Oakland in women’s college volleyball as part of the Heart of the Mitt Invitational.

The start of the Heart of the Mitt Invitational tournament in women’s college volleyball is an opportunity for both Oakland (1-2) and Central Michigan (0-3) to end losing streaks. The Chippewas have lost three straight matches to open the season. All three losses came in straight sets as part of the Cougar Invitational. The Golden Grizzlies opened the season with a win, but then dropped two straight matches as part of the Rocket Invitational. Both teams are looking to add a win to their record. During the Chippewas ‘ three-match losing streak, they have not won a set. They are looking not only for their first win of the season, but to win their first set of 2026.

It has been a rough start for sophomores Taylor Cripe and Brytn Lyon. They lead the Chippewas with 40.5 points and 52 assists through the first three matches. Cripe is coming off a freshman season with 315 points and a program record six service aces in her first game of the season against High Point.

Freshman Liv Hosford leads the Golden Grizzlies with 47.0 points in the team’s first three matches. Sophomore Molly Reck has 43.5 points for a young and talented Golden Grizzlies team.

Delaney Stern has 100 assists through the first three matches in her junior season. That trio will try to get the Golden Grizzlies back in the win column in the Heart of the Mitt Invitational.
