Woman convicted of first-degree murder in deadly 2018 shooting case, Sac County DA says
A woman was found guilty by a jury on Wednesday of murdering a man in 2018, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
The DA’s office announced the conviction of Julisha Douglas on Thursday.
On Jan. 14, 2018, Michael Craig was sitting in his car when he got into a verbal exchange with Douglas, officials said. Douglas proceeded to shoot Craig in the head.
When the deadly shooting took place, law enforcement released footage of the shooting in hopes of identifying a suspect. According to the DA’s office, a civilian reached out, saying they recognized the shooter as Douglas and reporting that Douglas may have been seeking revenge because she believed Craig was involved in the death of her father.
Douglas was arrested after investigators found evidence that she was in the area at the time of the shooting and her vehicle was similar to a vehicle in the surveillance footage from that day, officials said. Law enforcement also found social media posts from her saying she wanted revenge for her father’s death.
Douglas’ sentencing is set for Nov. 20. Allegations that she has prior strike convictions for assault with a firearm and discharge of a firearm at an inhabited dwelling will be determined at the sentencing hearing.
Douglas is facing a maximum sentence of 75 years to life in prison.
