Son arrested in deadly stabbing of 72-year-old mother in Stockton
STOCKTON, Calif. —
A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the deadly stabbing of his 72-year-old mother in Stockton on Tuesday morning, according to police.
The Stockton Police Department said officers responded to the 2200 block of Hackberry Street around 12:43 a.m. for a welfare check following a report of a person stabbed.
When officers arrived, they found the woman with stab wounds. She was later pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Family identified her as Cruzita Harris, of Stockton.
“Sustained multiple wounds to the upper body and when medical personnel arrived on that scene, unfortunately, they pronounced her deceased,” said David Scott, Stockton Police Spokesperson.
Following an investigation, officers identified Kevin McKinsley-Harris, the victim’s son, as a suspect and took him into custody.

Details on a possible motive were not released.
The incident remains under investigation.
McKinsley-Harris is expected to appear in court on Thursday. He is not eligible for bail.
