Police have confirmed that the Novi man found dead in his home Monday evening was the victim of a homicide.
The Novi Police Department identified the man as Jonathan Michael Harley, 46. His death was ruled a homicide by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office based on an autopsy.
Officers discovered Harley’s body shortly before 9:30 p.m. at a residence in the 30000 block of Joliet in the Oakland Glens mobile home community, where they had been dispatched for a welfare check he didn’t report for work. Harley lived alone and no one else was inside the residence when officers arrived, police said.
Investigators continue to work the case and don’t believe there’s a threat to the public related to the incident, officials said.
Oakland Glens is located off 13 Mile Road east of Novi Road.
Personnel from the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory assisted the Novi Police Department in processing the scene, officials said.

Earlier this week, the Novi Police Department acknowledged that social media posts reported possible gunshots heard in the Oakland Glens neighborhood on Saturday evening, but said that hadn’t been confirmed or connected with the death. Police haven’t released any other information.
This is Novi’s first homicide of 2026. So far this year in Oakland County, 21 deaths have been attributed to homicide — of which 10 have occurred since July 1.
