Drivers heading through the San Gabriel Valley this weekend should plan around a major overnight freeway closure: all westbound lanes of the 60 Freeway will be closed in Diamond Bar.
The full closure is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday mornings as crews continue work on the massive 57/60 Confluence Project, a long-term effort aimed at improving safety, traffic flow, and congestion at one of the region’s busiest freeway interchanges, NBC Los Angeles reports.

The westbound 60 Freeway will be completely closed between Lemon Avenue and Diamond Bar Boulevard during overnight construction hours.
The closures will take place from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Saturdays and from 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Sundays. For the upcoming Labor Day weekend, drivers should expect the closure during the early morning hours on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6.
The closure will affect more than the freeway itself. Several nearby ramps and connectors will also be shut down, including the westbound 60 on-ramp at Diamond Bar Boulevard, the westbound ramps at Grand Avenue, the connector from the southbound 57 Freeway to westbound 60, and the westbound 60 connector to southbound 57. The Grand Avenue Bridge will also be closed during the work.
Why is the 60 Freeway closing?
The work is part of the $444 million 57/60 Confluence Project, a major effort to improve safety, traffic flow, and congestion at the interchange. The roughly two-mile stretch being improved carries approximately 350,000 vehicles every day and has been identified as one of the worst truck bottlenecks in the country.
Additional overnight westbound closures are scheduled for September 12–13, 19–20, and 26–27.
